Random ramblings...

First, a random update about the cereal thing. Ben enjoys eating the cereal and actually manages it very well for a baby just starting to eat solids. BUT, my sweet baby who has been sleeping through the night every night since he was 2.5 months old has woken up SCREAMING at least once every night since we started the cereal. So, after much thought, I think we are going to give it a few weeks before we try the cereal again. (So much for the whole "he'll sleep better if he eats something solid" theory that everyone tells new moms about!)

Second, Ben is developing the funniest little personality! Today he and my niece were playing a little game that had me rolling with laughter. Belle would lean down right in his face and touch his nose with her nose and he would then "yell" loudly at her. She would pretend he scared her and jump away from him, then they would both crack up laughing. This went on for at least ten minutes and my sides hurt from laughing at them. The game finally ended when she leaned down one last time and Ben grabbed her hair, pulled her close, and then put her nose in his mouth! She was NOT amused by that and was done playing pretty quickly. Ben, however, thought it was the funniest thing that had ever happened.

Last, one more funny Ben story for the day. My younger nephew, Drew, who is 14, came downstairs to get Ben to smile so I could sneak some pictures for Daddy. (When the camera comes out, if somebody isn't distracting him, the smiles disappear because Ben is studying the camera.) After we were done taking pictures, Drew started to walk toward the stairs and Ben started yelling after him! Not crying or pouting, but actually yelling. When that didn't work, he made the saddest littl frown face and burst into tears until Drew came back. As soon as Ben saw him again, he broke out in a giant smile. Can you tell this baby is the center of attention around here????

Yummy Cereal!

Today was the first time Ben got to eat baby cereal. Of course, before he could eat his cereal, we had to go shopping and buy him a high chair. So, our Fisher Price Rainforest collection is now complete! He really loves sitting in his chair at the table with the rest of us at dinner time, and he seemed to like his cereal too. For his first time, we didn't make too big of a mess!

Check-up day!

Ben had his four month well-baby visit today. You'll all be happy to hear that the doctor agrees that he is perfect. (Well, maybe she didn't put it quite that way, but....) He weighed in at 12 pounds, 7.5 ounces (between 5th and 10th percentile) was 24.25 inches long (between 50th and 75th percentile), and had a head circumference of 16 inches (which is between 25th and 50th percentile). The pediatrician also got to see him roll over, scoot on his tummy, push his head and shoulders up while on his stomach, smile, coo, and laugh. He really showed off. And then came the bad part-2 shots. He was technically supposed to get four, but this mommy prefers to do less at once, so he'll get the other two in a few weeks. Ben was a little trooper and barely cried at all for the shots. As soon as they were over he was all smiles again.

On a less happy note, Ben's daddy left today for another looooong work trip. We dropped him at the airport shortly after the pediatrician's appointment. Ben didn't seem too concerned (of course, he has no clue how long Daddy will be gone!) but Daddy certainly had a hard time leaving.

What a difference 4 months makes!!!

Yesterday Ben turned four months old. I can hardly believe it! He is growin and changing so much every day! The differences between his newborn pictures and the ones from this past week are astounding. He is such a sweet baby and is more joy and blessings that we ever anticipated when we started our adoption journey. Happy 4 months, precious Ben! Mommy, Daddy, Tony, and Drew love you bunches!

Pictures from Ben's 3 month photo shoot

These are Ben's 3 month pictures. The top one is just a silly shot that we didn't order any of, but thought his look was priceless. (Thank goodness for CD's with all the pics so we can enjoy without paying $15 a sheet!). The second is one of our favorites. Our little man looks sooo grown up in his suit from Uncle Paul's wedding.

State Fair Fun!

We spent the day at the Indiana State Fair on Friday. Ben liked looking at the animals, but got tired and fell asleep while his Daddy and Cousin Belle were riding an elephant!

Fun at the Orchard!

Today my husband, 13 year old nephew, niece, Ben, and I went to the local apple orchard! We had a picnic right by the lake, then picked raspberries and apples. My little niece was adorable and kept saying, "I love picking raspberries at the Apple Porcher"! Too cute for words! Ben loves being outside, so he was a happy baby. Of course, as you can tell from the picture, all that outside time made him sleepy, so he ended the day at the orchard with a nap on Mommy! If anyone lives in Central Indiana and wants a great, family-friendly orchard to visit, let me know and I'll be happy to share their info.

Happy baby!

These pictures are of Ben at a farm that we visited with our friends. This boy LOVES being outside, and you can tell from the big smile. He also loves riding in the Moby wrap while we explore. The second picture is Ben checking out a goat-who came over to check out Ben first. The last one is of Ben and his friend Hope again. This makes two weekends in a row that they have seen each other. This weekend they really had a great time checking each other out!
