Holiday weekend pics....

We had a busy, fun 4th of July weekend. We kicked it off with a Chuck E. Cheese party for my little niece's 3rd birthday on July 3rd. It was her "friend" party, but Ben had to go anyway because he is her friend AND her cousin (how do you argue with logic like that??). On the 4th we just stayed at home and had my sister and niece over for dinner. Lots of people in our neighborhood set off tons of fireworks, so we decided to watch them from the relative quiet of my house. Ben slept right through most of them-he only woke up once the whole time. On the 5th, we went to my niece's "family" birthday party (I'm convinced that she invited us to both parties because she knows her Aunt buys the best presents and this way she would get two!) Ben slept through most of the party in the Moby wrap, but I did get one smiling picture of him there (it's the top pic on this post). And, to top it off, that night we went to the drive-in theater and saw Wall E and Prince Caspian, also with my sister and niece. Of course, Ben slept through both of those in my arms.
The middle picture on this post is Ben in his "Born in the USA" outfit that a friend bought us. It is a great reminder to me of just how glad I am that he was, indeed, born in the USA. It is a sad and scary thought that he could just as easily be one of the orphans in Guatemala who are left with no option for adoption while the government there and here try to figure out a way to make the new adoption law work. Please, everyone, take a minute to pray for all of those children and their birthfamilies. But for the grace of God, Ben would be included in those numbers. Please pray also that Guatemala figures out a way to allow adoptions to resume so that those same children can have forever families.
